Joi Womack, a dedicated educational leader, has successfully completed a 10-week summer fellowship with Ed Pioneers, contributing significantly to the Friendship Public Charter School District.
As part of the fellowship, Womack served as a Pathway Development Fellow, focusing on creating and enhancing pathways for behavior support roles within the district.
During her tenure, Womack collaborated closely with district leaders to design and implement effective support systems aimed at improving student behavior management.
Her work encompassed developing comprehensive strategies for Crisis Prevention/Intervention Training, Trauma-Informed Practices, Restorative Practices, and other critical areas of behavior support.
These efforts are set to have a lasting impact on the district’s ability to support its predominantly Black and Brown student population.
“The opportunity to work with Friendship has been incredibly rewarding,” said Womack.
“I am proud of the pathways I’ve created and the potential they have to positively influence student behavior and overall school climate,” she said.
Womack’s work is part of a broader initiative by Ed Pioneers to foster innovation and leadership in education.
The fellowship program aims to equip educational professionals with the skills and experiences needed to drive meaningful change in their communities.
Womack’s contributions exemplify the program’s goals, demonstrating the profound impact that dedicated and skilled professionals can have on the educational landscape.
The induction ceremony for Ed Pioneers fellows took place Aug. 6, where Womack and the other 49 inductees were recognized for their outstanding work and dedication.
Womack will continue working in central office leadership as an EdTech Manager with the District of Columbia Public School District.
