Funeral services were held December 28, 2013, at Palestine MB Church, Oakvale, for Mrs. Sarah Ellen Gamblin, 98, who died December 22, at her residence. Rev. Johnnie Pittman, Jr., officiated with interment following in the New Zion Church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ellen Gamblin, was born in Jefferson Davis County to the late John and Anna Aultman Gamblin.

She joined Palestine MB Church at an early age and remained a member until her death.

She began her education at Bellview Elementary School in Jefferson Davis County and her secondary education was completed at Piney Woods School. She continued her educational journey at Jackson State College, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. After graduating from colege, she returned home to her community to teach. She taught for 28 years in Jefferson Davis County School System and retired in 1975.

She leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
