Mrs. Edgie Mae Brown, 90, February 8, 2014, at her home in Monticello. Services for Mrs. Brown were held on February 15  at Quin Temple Church of God in Christ in Monticello, with Pastor Lonnie Lenoir and Elder Arthur S. Quin officiating. Interment was in the Friendship Church Cemetery with Laird Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late Leon Bridges and the late Norene Taylor Bridges of rural Lawrence County. At an early age she joined the Rose Hill Baptist Church and remained a member until she married and united with the Friendship Church, where she served until she joined the Quin Temple Church in 1958. Mrs. Brown served her Lord and church as church mother, financial secretary, Sunday school teacher, trustee, and as a Home and Foreign Mission teacher, and was known as a prayer warrior.

As a young woman, Mrs. Brown married Arthur Brown of Lawrence County, and to this union one son was born and other children added through God-given love and nurturing.

Mrs. Brown worked much of her adult life as a private home caregiver, prior to working many years at the Lawrence County Hospital.

Mrs. Brown’s survivors include her son, Eric L. Brown of Monticello; two other sons, A.D. Brown of St. Louis and Johnny Clyde Bridges of Spring, TX; two sisters, Flora Smith of Chicago, IL, and Wilma Sutton of Phoenix, AZ; one sister-in-law, Helen Bridges of Fort Worth, TX; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
