Rebekah Elizabeth Lay

Funeral services for Rebekah Elizabeth Lay of Winona were held on February 19, at Prentiss Baptist Church in Prentiss, with burial following in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery near Prentiss. Dr. Chris Aldridge, Bro. Ben James, and Bro. Stan Tucker officiated the services.

Rebekah died in an automobile accident near Winona on February 17. She was 36 years old.

Rebekah was born in Louisiana on October 16, 1977. She was presently living in Winona, having moved from Hattiesburg. She grew up as a missionary kid in San Jose, Costa Rica, where she graduated from the Marion Baker School in 1996.

While in high school, she was captain of the volleyball team and active in the school theater. She was also a leader in the Christian Youth Group. Rebekah attended Mississippi College and William Carey University. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona.

Rebekah was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Walter Franklin Lay; brother, David Franklin Lay; and her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Shelby Carraway of Prentiss and Mr. & Mrs. W.J. Lay of Union.

She is survived by her three children, Lillie Makayla, 7, Christian David, 3, and Alexis Grace, 20 months; and her mother, Margaret Lay, all of Winona.

Pallbearers will be Larry Henderson, Shane Henderson, Brandon Henderson, Gene Cliburn, Mike DeWitt, and Jacob Winscott.
