Destry Escardrille Hall

Funeral services were held Friday, August 1, 2014, at Mt. Zion MB Church for Mr. Destry Escardrille Hall, age 46, who died Saturday, July 26 in New Orleans, LA. Rev. Ozell White officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Destry E. Hall was born to Willie Louis Hall and Eunice V. Polson in Chicago, IL. He was raised by his grandmother Minnie Mae (Tiny) Barnes and grandfather Fred (Jack) Barnes, Jr. and his great-aunt, Ardie Mae (Tush) Hartzog.

He attended Sophia Sutton pre-school and kindergarten in Jefferson Davis County, MS. He graduated from Prentiss High School in 1985. He joined the United States Army and served his country from 1985 to 1988. While serving in the capacity as an Expert Mobile Tactical Operator, he earned the Army Service Medal, Oversees Service Ribbon and the Sharp-Shooter Badge with M16 Rifle.

While in Mannheim, Germany, he met and married Monika Sadowski of which two children were born to this union, Shanika L. Hall and Destry B. Hall. After returning to the United States, he embarked on a music career and formed the regionally known group, Southern Kumfort.

He went on to work various other trades from longshoreman to commercial contractor, but his passion was cooking. He was known as the “Drunk Chicken King” throughout the Southern Gulf region of the United States.

He is survived by mother, Eunice Polson of Bassfield; father, Willie L. Hall of Chicago, IL; four children, Shanika L. Hall and Destry B. Hall both of Collins; Martravous Hall and ReAnna Reese both of Monticello; fiancee, Claudia Bruce of New Orleans, LA; two brothers, Dino Hall of Alburquque, NM, and Desmond Hall of Washington, DC; one sister, Yulandraul M. Simpson of Washington, DC; one grandchild; many other relatives and friends.
