Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. James Edward McLeod, 55, who died Friday, November 14, at his residence in Magee. Rev. Mario Graves officiated with interment following in Shorts Chapel Church cemetery, Carson. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James E. McLeod was born to the late Edward and Etta Ruth McLeod in Laurel. He was a member of Shorts Chapel CME Church. He attended Carver High and Bassfield High Schools. He was employed at Sanderson Farms and Ingalls Shipbuilding.

He was preceded in death by material grandparents, Elbert “Jim” Barnes and Elmaree Barnes and paternal grandparents, Johnny ‘Squirrel’ Drummond and L.V. McLeod Haynes.

He is survived by three sisters, Carolyn (Pete)Butler, Lendora (Larry) Woods and Brenda (Rev. Robert) Crumedy; eight aunts, Carrie (James) Magee, Bonnie (James) Garret, Catherine Lambert, Lula (James) Catchings and Mary (Larry), Rose Drummond, Mildred Price, and Ethel Haynes; five uncles, Sonny Graves, Henry Drummond, Joe, Caril and David Haynes; great-aunt, Edna McLeod; caregivers, Katie and Leon Griffith.
