Funeral services were held Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Society Hill Baptist Church in Oakvale, for David Stephens, age 77, who passed away January 27 at his residence in Oakvale. Internment followed at Society Hill Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.

Rev. Session Polk and Rev. Mike Sutton officiated. Pallbearers were Robert Polk, Bill Whittington, Terry Hamilton, Jeff Dungan, Lee Mock and Dewayne Morea. Honorary pallbearers were Judson Puckett and Jeppy Rush.

David was born December 2, 1937, in Mississippi. He is the son of Carl Stephens and May Deavers Stephens. He attended Pearl River Community College and University of Southern Mississippi. His profession was an accountant. He worked at St. Regis, Georgia Pacific in the business office and then 22 years at Dungan Engineering. He was a member Society Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Loes of Oakvale; two daughters, Carla Dungan of Prentiss and Catherine Brooks of Meridian; grandsons, Jacob Todd Brooks, Joshua Blake Brooks, Lee Dungan and Peyton Dungan; and granddaughter, Mary Morgan Dungan.

His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.
