Funeral services were held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Sweetwater C. M. E. Church for Miss. Bettye Lane McLaurin, 72, who died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, Jacskon, MS.  Rev. Nathaniel Lias, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Bettye McLaurin was born to the late Curtis and Vergie Mae McLaurin.  She was a member of Sweetwater C. M. E. Church.  Her academic achievements includeTeacher at Carver High School, 1965-1972; Holmes County Public Schools 1972-2002; Lexington Public School System and the Saint Academy, 2003-2006 and Regis Health Center, 2006-2016.  She was also a television host at WLBT, Jackson, MS.  She taught classes at Jackson State College for Ministers.

She was preceded in death by brother, James McLaurin.

She is survived by: four sisters, Eloise Hughes of Monrovia, CA, Mae Holloway and Mae Ola Simmons both of Duarte, CA and Annie L. McLaurin of Prentiss, MS; one brother, Curtis McLaurin, Jr. of Apple Valley, CA; many other relatives and friends.
