Memorial services were held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. Ira Edward Evans, 79, who died Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg, MS.  Rev. David Collins officiated with interment following in the Friendship M. B. Church Cemetery, Monticello, Ms.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ira Evans was born to the late Frank and Aradia Evans in Moss Point, MS.  He joined Friendship M. B. Church in Monticello, MS. He was married to the late Helen Walker Evans.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Ira Evans, Jr. and Shelton Evans; one sister, Vallie Mae Booker; two grandchildren, Jahnia and Jamaal Jones; special friend, Willie Lee Funches.

He is survived by: three children: Helelaine (Linnie) Osborn of Brandon, MS; Elton Evans of Monticello, MS; Tyeasa (Fred) Jones of Hattiesburg, MS; one sister, Rosie Lee Ward of Moss Point, MS; one brother, Leroy (Lillie) Bass of Sontag, MS; five grandchildren,special friend, Lincton (Dorothy) Norwood of Clinton, MS; two Goddaughters.
