Jefferson Davis County Tax Assessor Kelley Ross-Brown and her staff have started the preparations for a Fall Festival to be held in downtown Prentiss on Oct. 31.
The festival now has a theme, “Disney comes to JDC.”
“Participants can use anything Disney. Movies, characters, anything,” said Ross-Brown.
The registration fee for a general site is $5. For sites that are selling items, the price is $10. Political candidates’ sites are $25.
Only sites adhering to the Disney theme will be judged and are eligible for prizes.
The last day to sign up for a space is Oct. 25.
The money from the registration fees will be used to pay for the rental of rides and games available to the children.
“You do not have to park a car on your site and use your trunk,” said Ross- Brown. “You certainly can, but it’s not required. You can decorate your area any way you would like.”
The family-friendly event will be held on Columbia Avenue from the courthouse to the old bank building.
“This has been such a successful event that we ran out of room last year,” said Ross-Brown.
“The town has agreed to close off two blocks, so we are moving to main street. It is a good problem to have!”
