Two Jefferson Davis County High School football players have signed scholarships to further their football career. Eli Viniard will be playing for Copiah Lincoln Community College. Viniard played quarterback for the Jaguars and graduated from JDCHS in December. “First of all, I want to thank God for giving me the ability to play a game I love,” said Viniard. “I would like to thank my family for supporting me in everything I do, and I would like to thank my teachers, coaches and teammates for always pushing me to be the best player I could possibly be.”

Damyrion Darby, who played running back and defensive back for the Jaguars, will play the next four years at the University of South Alabama in Mobile.

“I’m so happy and I am thankful for my coaches and family and everyone who has supported me throughout the years and thank God,” said Darby.

“I am very thankful for the opportunity to have coached both of these young men,” said Jefferson Davis County Head Football Coach Lance Mancuso. “It is a special blessing to coach all of the young men, because these two are being recognized today, but without their teammates and coaches who have spent countless hours with them on and off the field this would not be possible.”

These two will be the 53rd and 54th players to sign football scholarships in the 17 years Mancuso has been a head coach in Jefferson Davis County. Mancuso hopes to have more players signing scholarships on National Signing Day next month.
